You're looking too far into it.

It's supposed to be unknown to the viewer that the misspelling was deliberate.

....I sort of get it. But that's what I was asking "what is the significance of misspelling it?" like what's the joke supposed to be?

Is 'misteak' a pop-culture reference from a song or show or something, is it a reference to a common spelling error, is it a nickname, etc.....
